Patton’s practice is dedicated to energy and real estate transactions.
His energy practice includes: rendering drilling, division order, and acquisition title opinions in various plays throughout Texas and New Mexico; providing counsel to land and division order departments of E&P companies; broad representation of clients in the water midstream business; purchase and sale representation; and preparation and negotiation of oil and gas leases, solar leases, surface use agreements, easement and right-of-way agreements, joint operating agreements, farmout agreements, exchange agreements, and assignments.
His real estate practice includes a broad range of services to real estate developers, investors, lenders, title companies, and farm and ranch owners, including: purchase and sale representation; development matters; commercial lending representation; formation of condominium regimes; preparation of closing documents; entity formation; and preparation and negotiation of commercial leases.
Patton is a fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation.

Melissa Dixon
Associate
Melissa's practice is focused in the areas of energy and real estate transactions. She has examined title and rendered title opinions since 2010. Melissa has also assisted clients with asset acquisitions and divestitures, including management of legal due diligence matters, and drafting title curative instruments, purchase and sale agreements, assignments and bills of sale. Melissa is also experienced with preparation of deeds, easements, surface use agreements, lease agreements, and other real estate transactional documents.

Kindra Poage
Attorney
Kindra is an accomplished attorney with over 20 years of experience practicing law in Texas. Kindra’s practice is focused on energy, real estate, and commercial transaction. Kindra has vast experience in contract drafting and negotiation, business transactions, litigation, appeals, and general counsel services. Kindra has worked for both sides in negotiating and preparing purchase and sale agreements, assignments, leases, easements and other transactional instruments for her clients. She is skilled at managing teams and collaborating with other attorneys. Throughout her career, Kindra has maintained a commitment to providing excellent legal representation with integrity.
In Kindra’s free time, she likes to cheer on the Longhorns, spend time with family and friends, and contribute time to help communities, both locally and nationally.

Tyler Kirchoff
Attorney
Though he was Texas raised, Tyler attended Arizona State University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies in Business and Communications. While attending college, he was captain of the Arizona State national champion fencing team.
He returned to Texas to pursue a law degree from the South Texas College of Law. During his time in law school, he worked as a certified mediator with the Harris County Dispute Resolution Center settling many cases in the Justice Court System, and interned with Thomas J. Henry Injury Associates as a legal blogger.
Throughout his career, Tyler has worked for non-profit animal sanctuaries, large corporations, litigation firms and individuals on a wide variety of legal problems ranging from curing complicated title issues to unique Endangered Species Act questions to drafting simple wills. Tyler has extensive experience in the oil and gas industry working title curative for multinational energy companies. At VanVeckhoven Law Firm, he prides himself on finding the optimum solution for his clients and helping them solve each particular problem. He continues with a client-centered focus hoping to improve the world, one document at a time.
